Dates: June 9th - August 15th, 2026.
Reports to: The position reports to the Camp Directors.
Salary: $800 - $1,200 per 6-day work week (Room & Board included)
Position Purpose:
As head of the Tennis Program, you will be expected to oversee, lead, and supervise all staff within the Tennis Program department. Your primary role is to help and assist your team, within the development and delivery of providing age and ability appropriate lessons within the Tennis program. This position also requires delivering private and semi-private lessons to campers.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Develop and deliver a lesson program that is appropriate for the age and ability of the campers
2. Ensure that camp staff and campers know and follow safety and educational procedures.
3. Oversee and assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment in the tennis program area
Responsibilities:
- Teach and stimulate the interest of staff and campers.
- Implement innovative and fun lesson plans and teaching techniques.
- Conduct a regular check of equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair.
- Set up activity area during staff week.
- Submit orders for supplies and equipment during staff week or when needed ensuring the timely arrival of materials.
- Work as a member of a team of counselors who provide guidance and support to all campers.
- Plan and prepare for inter-camp sporting events and activities, when applicable.
- Assist with all-camp events, evening programs, and trips.
- Other duties assigned by supervisors.
Desired Qualifications:
- Appropriate certification and documented experience in teaching tennis lessons, creating relevant age and ability lesson planning including basic techniques and progressive games for children within private lessons.
- Competent in breaking down and demonstrating tennis techniques and in-game coaching.
- Knowledge of safety practices and risk assessments associated within the tennis court, equipment, and maintenance alongside game rules umpiring, and court etiquette.
- Endurance and stamina needed to provide constant programming and supervision to campers.
- Ability to spend 6-8 hours a day teaching tennis activities.
- Positive attitude and sense of humor.
