R.S. Audley, Inc. has full-time opening for a Grade Foreman. This role is essential in providing support and assistance in major civil construction projects.
Job Description Summary:
A Grade Foreman is a managerial position responsible for overseeing the excavation and placement of embankment and select materials. This includes preliminary layout in accordance with plans and specifications, management and maintenance of grades and knowledge of working with multiple materials in varying weather conditions with multiple machine types. This individual is responsible for directing and managing all on-site construction workers, subcontractors, and equipment. This individual is also responsible for enforcing the R.S. Audley, Inc.’s safety standards as well as policies and procedures. This role is essential in ensuring that the project site work is meeting the standards set by the project plans as well as ensuring the work being completed stays on target and budget for completion.
Key Functions and Requirements:
· Demonstrates safe and ethical behavior at all times.
· Committed to safety of employees and mindful of environmental considerations. If there are safety issues, this individual is to report these issues to the Project Superintendent, Director of Safety, or Director of Human Resources as appropriate.
· Supervises and manages the removal and placement of earth materials in conformance with plan documents.
· Strong math skills and ability to calculate quantities and grade profiles.
· Supervises employees working on site, ensuring that R.S. Audley, Inc. is meeting project goals.
· Documents daily quantity sheets, timesheets and other job-related paperwork.
· Manages employee performance/employee issues as necessary.
· Knowledge and experience using GPS technologies and traditional layout methods, establishing subgrade, finish grade and side slopes.
· Communicates effectively with field superintendent and subcontractors, coordinating as necessary.
· Conducts weekly tailgate safety meetings.
· Maintain a clean jobsite.
· Participate in the training and other forms of development to strengthen technical skills.
· Ensure job equipment and tools are maintained in good working order and are safe for use.
· Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
· Must have superior ability in reading, understanding and implementing plan designs.
· Must be excellent with the use of a laser and transit.
· Strong ability and comfort in using a GPS.
· Must be able to identify the types of soil and know the necessary protocols for dealing with each type.
· Strong mathematical skills required.
· Must have excellent interpersonal skills, must be willing to speak with a variety of different levels.
· Must be adaptable to varying conditions in the field.
· Excellent knowledge of safety precautions and protocols.
· Possess the ability to work independently and lead daily activities of team members according to work schedule.
· Able to consistently meet attendance expectations with dependability and consistency.
· Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in implementing excavations, grading and heavy construction work in general.
· The ability to manage, motivate and lead employees in implementation of site work.
