Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence, ensuring safety for both animals and staff during examinations and treatments
- Conduct laboratory tests, prepare samples, and interpret results to aid in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Maintain detailed medical records, including vaccination histories, treatment plans, and procedural documentation
- Support pet care activities such as grooming, feeding, administering medications, and monitoring recovery post-surgery or treatment
- Handle dental procedures by understanding dental terminology and assisting with cleaning, radiography (X-ray), and oral examinations
- Manage animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, and ensuring proper animal physiology and anatomy knowledge is applied for optimal care
- Assist with animal catheterization, laboratory sample collection, X-ray imaging, and other specialized veterinary procedures
- Provide dog handling training support and pet grooming services as needed to enhance client satisfaction
Experience
- Previous kennel experience or animal handling background demonstrating comfort working with various species including dogs, cats, and equines
- Veterinary technician experience with a strong understanding of veterinary terminology and critical care practices
- Laboratory experience including sample processing and diagnostic testing techniques
- Knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and pet care best practices to ensure comprehensive animal welfare
- Hands-on experience with veterinary equipment such as X-ray machines, dental tools, and restraint devices
- Familiarity with veterinary critical care procedures to support emergency situations effectively
- Ability to perform animal catheterization and utilize aseptic techniques in clinical settings
