General Purpose of Job: Oversee and Coordinate Talent Management & Acquisition; Employee Relations & Benefits Administration; Training & Performance Management.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day HR activities of Employee Relations and Benefits Administration. Position owns all Talent Management aspects – Performance and Recruitment/Acquisition & Retention. Works with Safety and Compliance Manager to conduct and document Food Safety/Quality and Compliance Training.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Employee Relations and Benefits Administration.
- Execute employee onboarding and orientation processes. Maintain and update employee records with confidentiality and accuracy - processing of new hire paperwork and respective benefit eligibility dates (hire, enrollment, terminations, sick and vacation time), conduct background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- Implement new hire orientation and develop team member recognition programs.
- Administer benefits programs, including health, wellness, and retirement plans.
- Partner with Payroll Manager to coordinate pay, benefits and other changes.
- Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, team members and leadership peers and provide HR support for general issues and concerns.
- Collaborate with leadership peers to proactively resolve performance or behavioral issues and track absenteeism.
- Maintain first report of injury files and report all claims to workers compensation carrier. Attend hearings, as needed.
- Schedule training and testing for Hearing Tests, Harassment Training, etc.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and company policies.
- Comply with all quality and safety rules, ensuring adherence to Health, Safety and Environmental policies and Housekeeping/Sanitation best practices.
- Actively participate in development, preparation and implementation of employee activities, HR programs and company events. Support coordination of welcoming and guiding visitors.
Recruitment / Talent Acquisition Management.
- Enhance the company’s positive image in the marketplace by cultivating and managing strong relationships with candidates, external contacts and vendors.
- Lead and execute the recruiting process, including collaboration with hiring leaders to understand skills and competencies for the role. Market, interview and facilitate the hiring of qualified applicants for open positions.
- Participate in local, college and technical school career fair activities, creating pipelines for future new hires.
- Develop and manage job descriptions and outline accountabilities.
- Oversee hiring for temporary workforce.
Performance Management & Training.
- Manage and facilitate performance and development program processes, provide training and support to managers. Assist with workforce planning, and leadership development.
- Partner with cross-functional peers to support change management and team performance improvement.
Personal Qualifications.
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a growing and dynamic, multi-million-dollar manufacturing environment.
- Superior attention to detail with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong follow-through, assertiveness and accountability.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to maintain positive working relationships with all levels of management and employees.
- Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of ERP software (NetSuite preferred), and the Microsoft Office Suite.
- High degree of Integrity, maintain confidential information and exercise discretion.
- Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
Education and Experience.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in HR Generalist role.
- Solid knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Spanish helpful.
