Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our Finance/Accounting team. This role is responsible for managing and analyzing manufacturing costs, ensuring accurate cost accounting, supporting operations with financial insights, and helping leadership make data-driven decisions to improve efficiency and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain cost accounting systems, documents, and records for manufacturing operations.
- Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs.
- Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, and Production teams to identify cost variances and provide recommendations for process improvement.
- Monitor inventory transactions, reconcile work-in-progress (WIP), finished goods, and raw materials.
- Maintain standard cost systems, updating bills of material (BOMs), routings, and labor/overhead rates as needed.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries, accruals, and cost roll-ups.
- Prepare cost analyses for new product introductions, capital projects, and make-versus-buy decisions.
- Support annual budgeting and forecasting by providing detailed manufacturing cost inputs.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and internal controls.
- Provide ad hoc reporting and analysis to support management decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 3+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
- Proficient in ERP/accounting systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with operations and leadership teams.

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
