Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Insulator to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing insulation systems on mechanical equipment and piping within various construction projects. This role requires a strong understanding of construction processes, technical schematics, and the ability to work safely on-site. The Mechanical Insulator plays a vital part in ensuring energy efficiency, safety, and proper functioning of mechanical systems across commercial and industrial facilities.
Responsibilities
- Install, replace, and repair insulation on pipes, ducts, tanks, and mechanical equipment according to project specifications.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine insulation requirements.
- Use hand tools and power tools such as caulking guns, saws, drills, and fabrication equipment to complete insulation tasks.
- Measure materials accurately and cut insulation to fit designated areas with precision.
- Collaborate with other trades including carpentry, roofing, masonry, HVAC, and framing to ensure seamless project execution.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following all safety protocols and procedures.
- Assist in fabrication and installation of insulation materials using construction estimating skills when needed.
- Perform finishing tasks such as trim carpentry or plastering related to insulation projects when required.
- Ensure all work complies with building codes and industry standards for quality and safety.
Experience
- Prior experience in construction site work with a focus on insulation installation preferred.
- Familiarity with construction estimating, blueprint reading, schematics interpretation, and schematic diagrams.
- Hands-on experience with hand tools, power tools, caulking techniques, metal stud framing, stucco application, roofing systems, HVAC components, concrete finishing, masonry work, airless paint spraying, and related trades is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of mechanical systems including piping insulation, ductwork insulation, and HVAC systems is essential.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols on construction sites along with the ability to work effectively in physically demanding environments.
