Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation and setup of asphalt paving sites, including site clearing and material staging
- Operate heavy equipment such as loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks to move materials and assist with paving operations
- Support paving crews by spreading asphalt, raking, and smoothing surfaces to ensure quality finishes
- Conduct utility locating to identify underground utilities before excavation or paving begins
- Help maintain a safe work environment by following safety protocols and inspecting equipment regularly
- Assist with the operation of dump trucks and other machinery to transport materials efficiently across the site
- Support the team in general construction tasks, including site cleanup and material handling
Requirements
- Prior experience working on construction sites or in asphalt paving is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is key
- Ability to operate heavy equipment such as dozers, loaders, backhoes, graders, and front loader trucks safely and effectively
- Knowledge of utility locating procedures and safety standards on construction sites
- Strong physical stamina with the ability to stand, lift, and perform manual labor for extended periods
- Basic understanding of construction processes and safety regulations
- Familiarity with Caterpillar equipment or similar heavy machinery is a plus
- Valid driver’s license; experience with dump trucks or paving equipment is advantageous
