Air General, a third-generation, family-owned, national cargo handling company, is seeking a
Vice President, Compliance.
Reporting to the President and serving as an integral member of the senior leadership team, the
Vice President of Compliance will be responsible for the development of Air General’s day-to-day Compliance strategy and contribute to the development of the organization’s strategic goals. This executive-level role will lead and oversee the company's adherence to aviation related regulations, and internal policies, developing strategy, managing risk, and fostering an ethical culture. Key duties include creating compliance programs, conducting audits, training staff, monitoring regulatory changes, liaising with authorities, and reporting to senior leadership to prevent fines, lawsuits, and reputational damage.

Responsibilities
- Develops and implements the overall compliance strategy, providing direction and leadership to the compliance team.
- Conducts risk assessments, identifies potential compliance gaps, and implements mitigation strategies.
- Oversees internal controls, audits, and testing to ensure ongoing adherence to rules.
- Designs and delivers compliance training and awareness programs for all employees.
- Manages relationships with external regulators and coordinates responses to audits or inquiries.
- Provides regular updates and reports on compliance status, issues, and risks to top management.
- Works with finance, operations, and other departments to integrate compliance across the business.
- Ensures strict adherence to specific aviation regulations, including those from the TSA, CBP, FAA, and IATA.
- Serves as the primary liaison with external auditors, government accountability offices, customer compliance leadership, and regulatory bodies. They must present audit findings, risk assessments, and strategic updates to senior leadership clearly and concisely.
- Guides the strategic direction of the audit department, ensuring its work aligns with the organization's priorities and adheres to professional standards set by bodies like the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).
- Leads or collaborates on special investigations, including those related to fraud, waste, and abuse.
- Provide proactive safety leadership, ensure oversight of operations, and deliver clear direction to maintain compliance and drive excellence.
- Lead the procurement and management of insurance programs, including liability, cargo coverage, and administration of workman’s compensation claims.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law, Business, Risk Management, or related field.
- Extensive experience (often 15+ years) in compliance, risk management, or legal roles, with significant leadership experience.
- Proven experience as a Compliance, Risk Executive or equivalent leadership role overseeing an enterprise-wide compliance and risk program.
- Experience within the aviation industry preferred.
- Must be able to clearly understand and communicate in English when performing essential job functions.
- Must be able to pass all pre-employment screenings, background checks, and airport/government security background checks, and post offer drug screens.

Compensation - This is a salary/exempt role. The salary will be based on current market conditions and commensurate with candidate experience. Candidates are encouraged to communicate their expectations during the recruiting and selection process.
