While short-term objectives may vary from year-to-year, the ultimate goal for every enrollment professional is to fulfi ll the school’s mission of enrolling the most suitable student body possible, including a commitment to utilizing best practices for equity and inclusion. The Assistant Director of Admission will report to the Director of Admission.
The Assistant Director Of Admission Is Responsible For
Being an outstanding “fi rst touch” representative in all facets of admission:
- Responding promptly to all online, personal, telephone, and email inquiries about Derryfi eld
- Fulfi lling a primary role in representing Derryfi eld at admission events and fairs
- Interviewing, meeting with, and following up with prospective students and their families
- Eff ectively communicating with feeder schools and consultants to create positive and eff ective relationships
Coordinating or participating in internal eff orts related to admission and enrollment:
- Leading the Student Ambassador and Host Program
- Serving as a member of the Admission Committee
- Serving on the External Aff airs team and helping to execute marketing, retention, and enrollment strategies
- Writing for marketing and admission communications
- Acting as an administrator for weekend SSAT testing sessions
- Collaborating and planning of admission and enrollment events
Participating Whole-heartedly In The Life Of The School
- Advising Upper School students; possibly coaching or leading an Exploration Block in the spring term
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School.
- Must be physically and mentally capable of performing multiple tasks (such as phone calls, computer work, application reading, and receiving visitors) at once and be capable of consistently functioning well in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be capable of using a visual display terminal with keyboard
- Must be able to give and take feedback and direction well

Desired Skills
- Demonstrated experience with Office software programs (Google Docs, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Knowledge of and/or experience in independent schools; and the ability to talk with prospective families about The Derryfield School
- Willingness and ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional evenings and weekends
