Job Overview
We are seeking a reliable and skilled Maintenance Technician to support daily operations in a fast-paced slaughterhouse and meat processing facility. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment critical to production, ensuring minimal downtime while upholding the highest standards of safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance and emergency repairs on processing equipment, including saws, grinders, conveyors, refrigeration systems, and packaging machinery
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues and implement timely solutions
- Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce equipment failures and extend machinery lifespan
- Ensure all equipment operates in compliance with USDA, OSHA, and food safety standards
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation
- Assist with facility upkeep, including plumbing, electrical, and general building maintenance
- Respond quickly to production needs and work collaboratively with operations staff
Qualifications:
- Previous maintenance experience in a manufacturing, food processing, or industrial environment (meat processing preferred) a plus
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulics, and pneumatics
- Ability to work in cold, wet, and physically demanding conditions
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
- Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in meat processing or slaughterhouse operations
- Familiarity with HACCP plans and food safety protocols
- Welding or fabrication experience is a plus
Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour
