HVAC Journeyman
$28 – $40 per hour
Hourly rate based on experience and certifications. Overtime and performance bonus potential.
Join the HVAC team installing commercial mechanical systems on New England's largest construction projects. We're hiring experienced journeymen with EPA 608 Universal who can install, braze, and start up equipment with minimal supervision.
ABOUT THE ROLE
You'll work alongside experienced foremen on ground-up commercial, healthcare, education, and multifamily projects — installing RTUs, AHUs, split systems, VAV boxes, refrigerant piping, hydronic piping, and controls rough-in.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Install commercial HVAC equipment — RTUs, AHUs, split systems, VAV boxes, unit heaters, exhaust fans
- Run and connect refrigerant piping (brazing, pressure testing, evacuation, charging)
- Install hydronic piping for boilers, chillers, and fan coil systems
- Connect ductwork to equipment and install transitions
- Pull and terminate low-voltage controls wiring
- Read mechanical drawings and coordinate with foreman on layout
- Assist with equipment rigging, crane picks, and rooftop placement
- Test and commission equipment at startup
- Mentor and guide apprentices on-the-job
- Communicate material needs to the foreman before they hinder progress
REQUIRED
- EPA 608 Universal Certification (required)
- 4+ years commercial HVAC experience or completed apprenticeship
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
NICE TO HAVE
- OSHA 10 Certification (we'll provide if needed)
- NH Fuel Gas Fitter license (Equipment Installer or higher)
- NATE certification
- VRF / VRV system experience
- Brazing and refrigerant piping proficiency
- Blueprint reading ability
- A2L refrigerant training (R-454B / R-32)
- Aerial lift / scissor lift certification
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift and carry 50+ lbs.
- Prolonged standing, walking, squatting, reaching
- Overhead work and climbing stairs
- Work at varying heights on ladders, aerial lifts, and rooftops
- Pass a pre-employment physical
- Perform in all indoor and outdoor climates
