Position: Grinder / Polisher
Location: Londonderry, New Hampshire
Work Schedule: Full-time, 1st shift, M-F schedule
For six months of the year (spring/summer), the department operates on a 9/80 work schedule (a two-workweek schedule of eight 9-hour days, one 8-hour day, and one day off) and the remainder of the year the regular work schedule is 7:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday.

Job Summary The Grinder / Polisher is responsible for supporting manufacturing operations through grinding, polishing, sanding, and finishing metal components to meet company quality standards. This position includes grinding and polishing foils, statics, and other parts requiring a similar finish. The role also involves operating various shop equipment including a radial drill, Ellis saw, Bridgeport, Wazer waterjet, and 50-ton hydraulic press. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, safety-focused, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Grinder / Polisher collaborates with multiple departments to ensure production goals and quality expectations are achieved.
Grinder / Polisher Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized workspace while following all company safety procedures
- Grind, sand, polish, and deburr foils, statics, and other metal components requiring precision finishing
- Operate grinders, sanders, polishing equipment, and other hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Operate shop equipment including a radial drill, Ellis saw, Bridgeport, Wazer waterjet, and 50-ton hydraulic press
- Inspect finished parts to ensure quality standards and specifications are met
- Follow work orders, blueprints, and production instructions accurately
- Handle materials and finished products carefully to avoid damage during production
- Assist with loading, unloading, and moving materials throughout the shop as needed
- Report defective materials, equipment issues, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly
- Support production and warehouse operations as needed to meet deadlines
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
- Participate in company safety training programs and follow all established guidelines
- Collaborate with co-workers and other departments on daily production activities
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with grinding, polishing, sanding, and finishing techniques required
- Ability to safely operate hand tools, power tools, pneumatic equipment, and shop machinery
- Experience operating a radial drill, Ellis saw, Bridgeport, Wazer waterjet, and hydraulic press preferred
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work
- Basic understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, drawings, and job specifications
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment
- Sufficient manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for precision finishing work
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift 50+ pounds as needed
Credentials and Experience:
- High School diploma or GED equivalent required
- Experience using grinders, polishers, sanders, and related shop equipment preferred
