Job Responsibilities
In support of R&D hardware projects, the Precision Parts Cleaner will clean and deburr high-value mechanical parts in preparation for assembly of devices for aerospace applications. Examples of work done by Creare include miniature vacuum pumps for the Curiosity Rover on Mars and a cryocooler on the Hubble Space Telescope that includes gas-bearing turbomachines. The Precision Parts Cleaner has a critical role to ensure all delicate, precision-machined parts are deburred and cleaned to the required standards. Extreme focus, patience, and a steady hand to manipulate hand tools are essential. Previous experiences in watchmaking, electronics assembly, or detailed artistic pursuits are relevant. Other duties may include electro-mechanical assembly in a variety of technology areas.
Professional Requirements
Required attributes include: ability to follow explicit written instructions and safety procedures; ability to work under a microscope using small/miniature hand tools; attention to detail, thoroughness, accuracy and organization with required documentation; flexibility, cooperative team spirit, and willingness to learn. GD&T and blueprint reading is preferred; however, we will train the right individual. Skill with MS Office (Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook) is also preferred.
This is a full-time regular position. A part-time schedule can also be accommodated (30+ hours/week). Compensation is $22 - $25 per hour, based on skills and experience.
