The Merrimack County Department of Corrections serves the community and its criminal justice system by providing security, supervision, and assistance to persons remanded to our custody. Our policy is to meet or exceed the standards set by the American Correctional Association, the National Commission of Correctional Healthcare, the New Hampshire Association of Counties, and the Merrimack County Board of Commissioners.
Supervises shift operations and staff while ensuring the safety and security of the public, inmates, staff and the physical plant within the Department of Corrections through the enforcement of facility policies and procedures.

Required Education & Experience
EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in criminal justice, social science, education, or related field.
EXPERIENCE: Five years in the Corrections Profession or Criminal Justice field with progressive managerial/administrative experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience, or any required knowledge, skills and abilities.
CERTIFICATION: Certified Correctional Officer by the New Hampshire Association of Counties.
Possession of a valid New Hampshire Driver’s License.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
EXPECTED WORK HOURS: The position is full-time, exempt, unclassified status. In addition to regular office hours is required to work and/or be available for evenings and weekends as directed by the Superintendent.
