WP Davis Excavation LLC is hiring a full-time Construction Superintendent to lead field operations on heavy civil construction projects.
We are based in Hampton, New Hampshire and perform commercial, municipal, DOT, and heavy civil construction work throughout New Hampshire and Maine.
This is a working superintendent role. The right candidate must be able to lead crews in the field, understand the plans, lay out work, solve field issues, and work hands-on when needed.

About the Role:
As a Construction Superintendent, you will oversee daily field operations on active construction sites. You will coordinate crews, subcontractors, equipment, materials, deliveries, layout, safety, production, documentation, and communication with project managers, inspectors, owners, vendors, and other project stakeholders.
This role requires a hands-on field leader who can understand the plans, communicate the work clearly, keep crews productive, and help ensure that projects are completed safely, correctly, and efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate daily field operations on heavy civil construction projects
- Supervise field crews, operators, laborers, subcontractors, and suppliers
- Read and interpret plans, specifications, profiles, sections, and project documents
- Perform and/or oversee layout, grades, elevations, and field measurements
- Coordinate materials, equipment, deliveries, subcontractors, and job-site logistics
- Communicate with project managers, inspectors, owners, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors
- Plan daily work activities and keep crews productive, safe, and organized
- Track production, job progress, equipment usage, materials, field conditions, and daily documentation
- Conduct toolbox talks and help enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements
- Identify field issues, troubleshoot problems, and communicate solutions with the project team
- Provide hands-on support and field training for operators, laborers, and other crew members as needed
- Operate equipment or assist with field work when needed
Requirements:
- 5+ years of heavy civil, excavation, site work, utility, bridge, dam, or concrete field experience with crew leadership responsibilities
- Experience leading crews and coordinating field operations on active construction sites
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, blueprints, and technical drawings
- Ability to understand grades, layout, sequencing, production, and field conditions
- Strong communication, leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to travel to job sites throughout New Hampshire and Maine
- OSHA 10 required
- Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions and around heavy equipment
- Willing and able to work hands-on in the field when needed
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience as a Superintendent, Foreman, Working Foreman, Field Lead, or Lead Operator
- Hands-on equipment operating experience, especially excavator experience
- Experience with public-sector, municipal, DOT, bridge, dam, utility, drainage, concrete, or heavy civil projects
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, inspectors, owners, engineers, and suppliers
- Experience with field reporting, timekeeping, equipment tracking, or construction management software
- OSHA 30 preferred
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
