Early-Stage CPG Startup
We are a growing consumer packaged goods startup seeking a hands-on CFO to own and build our finance function as we scale. This role is designed for someone with startup experience, ideally in CPG, who enjoys operating close to the business and partnering directly with leadership on both execution and strategy.
The CFO will work closely with the CEO to bring financial rigor, clarity, and discipline to day-to-day operations while supporting fundraising, partnerships, and long-term planning.
Responsibilities
- Own all financial operations end-to-end, including full responsibility for QuickBooks, monthly closes, reconciliations, and coordination with external accountants and tax advisors
- Build and maintain financial models, forecasts, and cash flow projections to support decision-making and growth planning
- Actively manage burn rate, runway, and capital efficiency, with clear visibility into short-term and long-term cash needs
- Support fundraising initiatives by preparing financial materials, managing data rooms, and participating in investor diligence
- Analyze COGS, unit economics, and gross margins, with a strong understanding of how financial decisions impact operations
- Partner with operations on inventory planning and working capital management
- Review and support structuring of vendor, manufacturing, distribution, and partnership agreements from a financial perspective
Qualifications
- Experience in a senior finance role at a startup or high-growth company (CFO, Head of Finance, or similar)
- CPG/Consumer Products experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to operate hands-on in lean environments, including running accounting systems directly
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills
- Practical, detail-oriented approach with the ability to zoom out and advise on strategy
What We’re Looking For
- We are looking for an operator-minded finance leader who is comfortable being close to the work and helping build the foundation for scale. This is not a purely advisory role; it requires ownership, judgment, and the ability to execute in a fast-moving startup environment.
