Summary
The Facilities Maintenance Manager is a working manager who reports to the Maintenance Director and is accountable for the condition, safety, and operational readiness of C&J facilities, grounds, and equipment across four company locations. This role provides leadership and oversight of facilities operations, including setting priorities, allocating resources, leading the Facilities Maintenance team, and coordinating vendors and contractors. The Facilities Maintenance Manager responds to facility-related emergencies and ensures consistent standards, timely maintenance, and effective prioritization of work across all sites. While hands-on support is required, the primary focus of this role is leadership, planning, oversight, and accountability for facilities operations. This is an hourly, non-exempt position for which attendance is a mandatory function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
· Provide overall leadership and accountability for facilities maintenance operations across multiple locations, including setting priorities, allocating resources, and ensuring consistent standards of care and safety.
· Direct, schedule, and oversee Facilities Maintenance staff, establishing work priorities, methods, and performance expectations across all assigned locations.
· Develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance programs, seasonal readiness plans (including winter operations), and routine facility inspections to minimize service disruptions and reactive repairs.
· Provide on-the-job training, coaching, and guidance to maintenance employees to support skill development, safety awareness, and performance expectations.
· Monitor work quality, productivity, and timeliness, addressing performance concerns and operational issues as needed.
· Enforce safety policies, PPE usage, and regulatory compliance across all facilities and maintenance activities.
· Participate in hiring, onboarding, performance feedback, and disciplinary processes in collaboration with leadership and Human Resources.
· Select, coordinate, and oversee vendors and contractors, ensuring quality of work, compliance with safety standards, and timely completion of services across all locations.
· Maintain and review records related to maintenance activities, inspections, work orders, and supplies to support planning, compliance, and operational decision-making.
· Serve as the primary point of accountability for facilities conditions, safety issues, and emergency response during assigned shifts and on-call periods.
· Perform hands-on maintenance work—including general repairs, landscaping, snow removal, and facility upkeep—as needed to support team operations and ensure continuity of service.
· Operate and oversee the safe use of equipment required for facilities and snow removal operations, including plows, snow blowers, ATVs, skid loaders, and related tools.
· Work overtime when required to prevent disruption of C&J operations.
· Adhere to all safety requirements and ensure proper PPE usage during all maintenance and facilities activities.
· Enforce safety policies, regulatory requirements, and proper PPE usage through active supervision and compliance monitoring across all facilities and maintenance activities.
· Oversee maintenance and repair activities at the owner’s residence as part of assigned facilities responsibilities, applying professional standards, discretion, and prioritization consistent with company facilities.
Skills Required
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred.
- Ability to maintain a DOT medical card and pass random drug testing.
- Ability to work effectively with supervisors, team members, vendors, and facility staff in the performance of duties.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions, including sketches, drawings, and specifications.
- Ability to safely use ladders, staging, scaffolding, and mechanical lifts as part of normal work activities.
- Availability for emergency response, on-call coverage, and overtime as operational needs require.
- Physical ability to safely operate hand and power tools commonly used in facilities maintenance.
- Physical ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions and in environments that may include moderate to heavy noise, proximity to moving equipment or machinery, electrical energy, and construction-related tools and materials.
- Ability to stand, walk, climb, stoop, bend, kneel, reach in all directions, maintain balance while working off the ground, and climb stairs as required.
- Ability to hear and communicate effectively to exchange information and respond to safety and operational needs.
- Ability to perform facilities maintenance activities and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of two years of facilities maintenance experience required; supervisory or multi-site facilities experience is strongly preferred. Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on work with leadership, planning, and accountability across multiple locations. This role requires the ability to independently assess operational needs, determine appropriate responses, and exercise sound judgment in managing facilities operations.
Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
