Job Summary
The Warehouse Manager has overall responsibility for the day‑to‑day operation and performance of the assigned warehouse site. This role is accountable for the safe, efficient, and accurate receipt, storage, handling, and shipment of materials and finished goods. Responsibilities include inventory accuracy, order fulfillment, employee supervision, facility oversight, and continuous improvement of warehouse processes to meet customer service, cost, quality, and safety objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership & Site Management:
- Provide overall leadership for warehouse operations with minimal supervision.
- Plan, organize, and prioritize daily warehouse activities to meet service and throughput requirements.
- Supervise warehouse personnel, assign work, and ensure appropriate staffing levels.
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Warehouse Operations:
- Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics activities, including:
- Receipt and inspection of incoming materials
- Put‑away, storage, and location management
- Picking, packing, and shipping of customer orders
- Ensure orders are fulfilled accurately, on time, and in compliance with customer and company requirements.
- Coordinate with transportation partners, internal stakeholders, and Carlisle drivers to manage daily shipping schedules, driver assignments, dock activities, and communication to ensure on‑time, accurate shipments.
- Ensure all products are packaged in accordance with company packaging standards, customer requirements, and transportation guidelines to prevent damage and ensure safe, compliant shipment.
- Maintain and enforce standardized packing methods, materials, labeling, and documentation across all outbound shipments.
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory records through proper system transactions and physical controls.
- Ensure timely and accurate posting of receipts, transfers, adjustments, and shipments in the ERP/WMS.
- Lead and manage cycle counts and physical inventories; investigate and resolve variances.
- Implement processes to improve inventory accuracy, material flow, and space utilization.
Process Development & Continuous Improvement:
- Develop, document, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for all warehouse activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, safety, and cost within warehouse operations.
- Monitor key warehouse performance metrics (e.g., inventory accuracy, order accuracy, on‑time shipping, productivity).
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for operational issues.
Carlisle Operating System (COS) Deployment:
- Lead the daily application of the Carlisle Operating System within warehouse operations to drive safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Conduct and sustain COS routines, including daily huddles, tiered accountability, visual management, and standard work.
- Use COS tools and metrics to identify gaps, prioritize actions, and drive problem solving at the warehouse level.
- Ensure warehouse employees are trained on COS principles and consistently follow standard work and operating disciplines.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives aligned with COS expectations and business objectives.
Team Development:
- Recruit, train, coach, and evaluate warehouse employees.
- Ensure employees are properly trained on equipment, systems, safety procedures, and job responsibilities.
- Manage employee performance, scheduling, timekeeping, and disciplinary actions as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with supply chain, customer service, transportation, quality, and finance teams to support business objectives.
- Communicate operational status, risks, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
Safety, Compliance & Facility Oversight:
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and other applicable standards.
- Promote a safe working environment through training, audits, and corrective actions.
- Oversee general facility conditions, housekeeping, and proper use of material handling equipment.
- Ensure compliance with inventory control, security, and loss prevention procedures.
Other Duties:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Strong leadership and people management skills in a warehouse or distribution environment.
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and order fulfillment processes.
- Experience with ERP and/or Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Ability to analyze data, track KPIs, and drive operational improvements.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Working knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced operation.
Education and Experience:
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in supply chain, logistics, operations management, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
Experience: Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in warehouse or distribution operations, including direct supervision of hourly employees. Prior experience managing a site or large warehouse team strongly preferred.
Working Conditions:
Location/Hours/Travel: Full‑time position. Work hours may extend beyond normal business hours based on shipping schedules, volume fluctuations, or operational needs. Overtime, nights, or weekends may be required. Travel is expected to be less than 10% and may include visits to other Carlisle facilities, carriers, or customers as needed.
Environment: Warehouse environment with exposure to moving equipment, noise, and varying temperatures. Adherence to safety protocols is required.
