Overview
Brewster Academy seeks an exceptional leader to serve as Director of Basketball Programs, responsible for advancing one of the most respected and visible basketball programs in the country. This individual will serve as the strategic and operational leader of Brewster Basketball, overseeing program development, supporting enrollment and recruitment, elevating the program’s national brand, and cultivating a thriving community of current student-athletes and alumni. The Director will lead all aspects of Brewster’s basketball programs, with primary responsibility for the boys NEPSAC AAA Prep team, while ensuring alignment across all boys and girls teams. This role requires a dynamic leader who can build, inspire, and sustain a high-performance culture that reflects Brewster’s commitment to excellence in athletics, academics, and community.
Athletics
- Provide visionary leadership for Brewster’s basketball programs, including four boys’ teams and two girls’ teams.
- Direct and coach the NEPSAC AAA Prep team as the program’s flagship competitive offering
- Establish and sustain a culture of excellence, accountability, and development across all levels of the program
- Recruit, develop, and mentor assistant coaches and basketball staff, ensuring alignment in philosophy and standards
- Collaborate across programs to support a unified and high-performing basketball ecosystem
Recruitment, Enrollment, And Pipeline Development
- Serve as a key partner to the Admissions Office in the development and execution of a comprehensive basketball recruiting strategy
- Build and maintain a strong national and international recruiting network
- Identify and recruit high-character, high-potential student-athletes aligned with Brewster’s mission and values
- Steward prospective families through the admissions process, from initial engagement through enrollment
- Contribute meaningfully to enrollment and yield outcomes through relationship-building and program positioning
Brand And Alumni Engagement
- Maintain and elevate the Brewster Basketball brand as a nationally recognized and respected program
- Partner with Marketing & Communications to shape and amplify the program’s story across multiple platforms
- Cultivate strong relationships with alumni, including collegiate and professional players, to strengthen program visibility and long-term engagement
- Develop opportunities for alumni mentorship, connection, and involvement with current student-athletes
- Serve as a visible ambassador for Brewster Basketball within the broader basketball community
- Manage social media platforms for the Prep basketball program on Brewster platforms.
Student-Athlete Development And College Placement
- Support the holistic development of student-athletes as competitors, students, and leaders
- Partner with the College Office to ensure strong college placement outcomes at the Division I, II, and III levels
- Guide student-athletes and families through the recruiting process with integrity, transparency, and expertise
Program Development And Innovation
- Design and lead initiatives that expand the reach and impact of Brewster Basketball, including camps, clinics, and global programming
- Develop summer and off-season programming that supports both revenue generation and long-term recruiting pipelines
- Explore strategic partnerships that enhance student-athlete development and program visibility
Operations
- Oversee all aspects of program operations, including scheduling, travel, budgeting, and logistics
- Ensure efficient and effective program management aligned with institutional standards
- Collaborate with Athletics leadership on strategic planning and resource allocation
Admissions Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of prospective students and families in conjunction with the Director of Admissions
- Partner with the Admissions team to support recruitment, yield, and enrollment goals
- Represent Brewster at recruiting events, showcases, and key external engagements
- Conduct student interviews and campus tours; read a portfolio of assigned admissions applications
- Contribute to the broader work of the Enrollment Management team
Qualifications And Attributes
- Demonstrated success as a basketball coach and program leader at a high level
- Deep understanding of the independent school national basketball landscape, including recruiting and college placement
- Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Experience working in or alongside enrollment, recruitment, and talent identification environments
- Commitment to student development, character, and educational values
- Ability to collaborate across departments and contribute to institutional strategy
