JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Commander of the Uniform Field Operations or appropriate duty supervisor, the Animal Control Officer shall be responsible for enforcing local and State legislation relating to domestic and wild animals and shall be responsible for the operations of the division. This is a full-time Unaffiliated position, Monday through Friday, 7 am to 3 pm and provides an excellent work life balance. The position has an hourly rate ranging from $28.00-$35.00 (wage dependent upon experience).

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

A minimum of one-year relevant work experience; high school diploma or certified equivalent;
Ability to safely handle aggressive, frightened or injured animals;
Be of good moral character to pass a background investigation and criminal history check;
Ability to learn and remain up to date on all Nashua ordinances and State statutes in relation to animal control functions;
Ability to obtain the knowledge and skills to handle all situations relating to domestic and wild animals;
Must meet Nashua Police Department and State of NH qualifications with issued weapon if applicable
Ability to handle situations effectively and courteously in all dealings with the public concerning animal control and in a non-biased manner;
Must be able to satisfactorily complete First Aid and CPR training as required by the Department
Possess a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License;
Must successfully complete required department training for the position
Ability to obtain NACA ACO I and ACO I l training certificates
Must possess and maintain the ability to regularly and predictably attend work
Meeting other such requirements as determined by the Chief of Police or designee
