Responsibilities
- Lead daily walks, ensuring each dog receives personalized attention, exercise, and mental stimulation.
- Monitor dog behavior during walks, using animal handling skills to ensure safety and comfort for all pets involved.
- Maintain clean and organized equipment, including leashes, harnesses, and waste disposal supplies.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding each dog's needs, behavior during walks, and any concerns that arise.
- Assist with basic pet care tasks such as feeding or administering medication if required by clients.
- Uphold safety protocols through animal restraint techniques and proper handling to prevent injuries or escapes.
- Keep detailed records of each walk, noting any behavioral changes or health issues observed.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dog handling, pet sitting, or animal care roles; veterinary technician or assistant experience is highly valued.
- Knowledge of dog training techniques and animal restraint methods to ensure safe interactions.
- Ability to lift heavy objects such as bags of dog food or equipment safely and comfortably.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, professional demeanor when communicating with pet owners.
- Familiarity with pet grooming, kennel experience, or veterinary experience is a plus but not mandatory.
- Physical stamina to walk multiple dogs daily in various weather conditions; heavy lifting may be required at times.
